BREAKING: The Toronto Blue Jays are finalizing a trade to acquire three-time Gold Glove-winning second baseman Andrés Giménez from the Cleveland Guardians, sources tell ESPN. As of publishing, neither team has confirmed the trade; however, Mark Feinsand reported an addition to the deal later that night.

In one of the most surprising moves of the offseason so far, the Cleveland Guardians traded three-time Gold Glove-winning second baseman Andres Gimenez to the Toronto Blue Jays. After the trade was reported,

Toronto will have a $23 million option to retain Gimenez for 2030. Toronto will be paying all of the remaining contract. 1- The Guardians likely felt Gimenez’ remaining contract value was far more than they wanted to invest in a middle-infielder.

The Guardians have traded Gold Glove second baseman Andres Gimenez and right-hander Nick Sandlin to Toronto. Gimenez and Sandlin both confirmed the trade. The deal was first reported by ESPN’s Jeff Passan.
