P resident Donald Trump is reportedly finalizing an Executive Order that would attempt to dismantle the Department of Education, which would fulfill a campaign promise as he seeks to shrink the size of the federal government.

Trump repeatedly talked about his desire to close the Education Department, which he alleged “indoctrinate(s) America’s youth with all sorts of things," on the campaign trail.

The Trump administration and its backers have suggested the department has evolved into a weapon wielded by progressives to enforce “woke” education policies and is a waste of taxpayer dollars. Trump has mused about allocating the department’s funding to the states.
