Blizzard has made another consumer-unfriendly move, but GOG has stepped in to keep Warcraft and Warcraft II available for owners in a less-expensive form.

GOG (once short for Good Old Games), which is owned by Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 maker CD Projekt Red, announced a new preservation program in which it promised to maintain old PC games and continually modify them to run on current hardware for the foreseeable future.

GOG is delisting Warcraft 1 and Warcraft 2 from its store at the request of Blizzard just weeks after the games entered its preservation program and, perhaps not coincidentally, just weeks after Blizzard released remastered versions of both games.
