Israel supporters confronted pro-Palestine marchers brandishing signs comparing the Gaza conflict to the Holocaust on Saturday.

The Palestine Solidarity Campaign said the event was the 22nd march since the Israel-Gaza conflict began in October 2023.

Protesters and counter-protesters hurled abuse at each other - and there was a brief struggle with police when a small group holding a banner ran into the road.

There is a heavy police presence in central London as a pro-Palestine march and counter-protest are held in the midst of Christmas shopping and Winter Wonderland festivities. Bemused Christmas shoppers took photos as the streets around Piccadilly Circus in central London were flooded with pro-Palestine demonstrators.

The Metropolitan Police has issued another warning about showing support for proscribed terror groups Hamas and Hezbollah.
