The city of San Diego and SeaWorld have reached an $8.8 million settlement agreement in a dispute between the two over more than $12 million in unpaid rent and fees incurred by the theme park during the pandemic,

The city of San Diego and SeaWorld have settled their lawsuit in which city officials alleged the park failed to pay more than $12.2 million in rent, late fees and interest.

Some environmental advocates say SeaWorld routinely discharges plastic caps, wires, trash and other chemical-covered debris into Mission Bay in violation of its fireworks permit.
