At its re:Invent conference on Tuesday, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Amazon’s cloud computing division, announced a new family of multimodal generative AI models it calls Nova.
Amazon Web Services Inc. continues to expand the reach of its generative artificial intelligence assistant Amazon Q by bringing it to more applications for business users. AWS launched Amazon Q earlier this year for developers and business users to act as a generative AI assistant that can help with coding and business tasks.
Amazon is rolling out four Nova models in total: Micro, Lite, Pro, and Premier. Each have their own capabilities and sizes. Amazon also introduced a new image generation model, called Nova Canvas, and a video-generation model, Nova Reel.
With Nova and other initiatives, Amazon is looking to use AI to build on its position in the cloud market. The company leads rivals Microsoft and Google in the cloud infrastructure market with 31% market share as of the end of the third quarter, according to Synergy Research Group.
