Protesters have rallied near the Bangladesh diplomatic mission in the Indian capital, pressing for an end to reported attacks on Hindus and other minorities in Bangladesh after former premier Sheikh Hasina fled into exile in India.

Bangladesh on Tuesday acknowledged 88 incidents of communal violence against minorities, primarily Hindus, following the ouster of then-premier Sheikh Hasina in August.

Protests were organized across West Bengal against the alleged attacks on minority Hindus in Bangladesh. Demonstrations, led by BJP leaders, took place in Kolkata and Ranaghat. Participants demanded an end to persecution and protection for minorities.

A large number of Indian Americans held a march from the White House to the US Capitol over attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh. Raising slogans like ‘We want Justice’ and ‘Protect Hindus’ the peaceful demonstrators urged the Biden administration and the incoming Trump administration to ask the new government in Bangladesh to take steps to protect Hindus but also take action against those responsible for the violence.
