Tar Heels head football coach Mack Brown will not returning to the team after the current season, UNC reported on Tuesday. The Director of Athletics Bubba Cunningham allegedly informed Brown that he will not be making the cut for the next season.

Tulane head coach Jon Sumrall and Georgia defensive coordinator Glenn Schumann are considered among the top head coaching candidates this offseason. Sumrall has a 32-6 (.842) record in three years as a head coach. Schumann has engineered a pair of top-five defenses at Georgia and has lured countless five-star talents to Athens.

The second tenure for Mack Brown as the North Carolina Tar Heels head football coach will end after this season.
