The National Weather Service in Cleveland's lake-effect snow warning for Erie County extends until Friday at 7 a.m. The weather service notes that travel could be difficult at times, and the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation has activated vehicle restrictions on interstates in northwestern Pennsylvania.

The National Weather Service says it may start out as rain, but as temperatures quickly drop to below freezing, a sudden burst of heavy snow is expected to drop an inch or so making driving tricky. The high wind gusts of up to 45 miles per hour in Greater Akron could create blowing and drifting of snow,

The coldest air of the season is on its way for the end of the week. But before that happens, parts of the metro area will experience a fresh round of snow.
