Google is updating its ubiquitous search engine with the next generation of its artificial intelligence technology as part of an effort to provide instant expertise amid intensifying competition from smaller competitors.

The US Justice Department has demanded that Google sell its Chrome browser to break up its alleged monopoly in online search. The department also wants Google to cease paid agreements for being the default search engine on various platforms.

On Wednesday, the tech giant announced that it's expanding AI overviews to more Google Search queries, starting with advanced math, coding, and multimodal searches. That's made possible due to Google's more advanced model, Gemini 2.0 ,, which now powers AI overviews.
