The Supreme Court has clarified to the Competition Commission of India that it will “not get special treatment” as the top court refuses to transfer the writ petitions filed in several High Courts challenging its antitrust probe against e-commerce giants Amazon and Flipkart.

"Only because some litigant is to be given special treatment, bypass the rules, we can't place it directly before the division bench," the Supreme Court said

Supreme Court's decision on clubbing 24 cases filed by preferred sellers will determine the course of CCI’s investigation into Amazon and Flipkart over alleged anti-competitive practices.

CCI wants the Delhi High Court to handle all the petitions, while the sellers prefer the Karnataka High Court to continue handling the case.

The AG argued that the matter affects millions of consumers, and that CCI was in the court in public interest and not as a private litigant.

Competition Commission of India’s plea was for combining two dozen writ petitions filed by various online sellers of e-commerce platforms Amazon and Flipkart.
