Prosecutors in Kansas say a former police detective who was about to go on trial for allegedly abusing black female residents is dead.

Just before facing trial on federal charges of sexual assaulting women on duty, Golubski was found dead in his home.

Roger Golubski is charged with six felony counts of violating women's civil rights, and jury selection in his trial is set to begin Monday in a federal courthouse in Topeka.
