A D.C. police officer shot and killed a dog Wednesday evening. The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) said just after 6 p.m., officers were called to a “domestic disturbance” in the 6700 block of Piney Branch Road in Northwest.

WASHINGTON — Police are investigating after officers shot and killed a dog they say charged at them, biting one, in Northwest D.C. According to the Metropolitan Police Department, the shooting happened in the 6700 block of Piney Branch Rd. around 6 p.m.

It’s at least the second time in recent weeks that a police dog was killed after it wouldn’t stop attacking someone. On Nov. 19 in Arizona, a deputy marshal shot and killed his K-9 partner after the dog latched onto his leg and wouldn’t let go, McClatchy News previously reported.
