World No. 7 Daniil Medvedev mutually parted ways with coach Gilles Simon after having the Frenchman in his corner for just a year.

After a year-long partnership that produced no silverware, Daniil Medvedev has formally split with Gilles Simon. The Russian, scheduled to start his campaign at the Rotterdam Open, issued the news just before the event.

Daniil Medvedev announced the end of his collaboration with Gilles Simon upon his arrival at the ABN AMRO Open in Rotterdam. The former world No. 1 hired the Frenchman in 2024 to join his coaching team,

During his last practice session in Rotterdam with Belgian veteran David Goffin, the former world No.1 tried several serve and volleys and dropshots. The last year has certified that Daniil's game is no longer so effective and the opponents have found the necessary solutions to put him in trouble.

Daniil Medvedev became a fan-favorite player for his exciting play and charming personality. However, Medvedev has not been able to contain his angry outbursts on the court over the past few months. The 28-year-old has gotten himself in trouble with the ATP and various tournament organizers for tantrums that include throwing his racquet and destroying net cameras.

Daniil Medvedev’s poor start to the 2025 tennis season has resulted in a change to his coaching set-up as he has confirmed the departure of one of his coaches. Former world No 6 Gilles Simon joined the 2021 US Open winner’s team in 2024,

With Daniil Medvedev's last ATP Tour title coming in May 2023, the Russian has decided to change up his coaching staff.
