The Senate Finance Committee this morning sent Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s nomination for health and human services secretary to the full Senate for a confirmation vote. In the afternoon, the Senate Intelligence Committee is scheduled to vote on Tulsi Gabbard's nomination to be director of national intelligence.

President Donald Trump's tariffs against China have gone into effect. China has retaliated with tariffs against U.S. oil. Tariffs against Mexico and Canada have paused as negotiations continue.

China said it would implement a 15% tariff on coal and liquefied natural gas products as well as a 10% tariff on crude oil, agricultural machinery and large-engine cars imported from the US from 10 February.
