The group of 15 representatives from NY-21’s 15 counties unanimously chose Blake Gendebien, a dairy farmer from St. Lawrence County, as the presumptive Democratic nominee.

Democratic chairs in the 15-county district on Tuesday agreed to put the 48-year-old Lisbon man on the ballot line once Gov. Kathy Hochul calls a special election.

The 15 Democratic county chairs in New York’s 21st district have selected their candidate for a special election to fill the seat being vacated by Republican Elise Stefanik. Stefanik, who has represented the sprawling district since 2015,

Planning for that special election can only happen if and when Stefanik is confirmed by the U.S. Senate for the post of U.N. ambassador.

NY Democrats have nominated Blake Gendebien to fill Rep. Elise Stefanik's seat in Congress. According to his campaign bio, Gendebien is a second-generation diary farmer raised in the North County. His campaign promises to stand up for small businesses while keeping bureaucracy in check.
