Smart home accessory maker Ecobee has announced the Smart Thermostat Essential, a more affordable alternative to the Smart Thermostat Premium

The all-new Ecobee Essential smart thermostat Ecobee unveiled at CES this week delivers most of the features that we like about the higher-end Enhanced ($190) and Premium ($250) models, but at a much more wallet-friendly price of just $130.

The Honeywell Home X2S is the first smart thermostat from the brand to support Matter, so you can customise the temperature and check its statistics from any compatible ecosystems. It’s also compatible with Alexa, Google Home, Apple Home and Samsung SmartThings, including their voice commands.

The Ecobee Smart Thermostat Essential will be available in March 2025 for $130. It is compatible with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. Ecobee also showcased its new Generac integration at CES 2025, showing how the smart home platform can work with the Generac PWRcell 2, an energy storage system.
