Sanjay Bangar on Wednesday reckoned the change in format and their past exploits in ODIs could bring glad tidings for the struggling duo of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.

Star India batters Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are on cusp of major ODI records, both personal and as partners. Currently, they are 129 runs shy of joining the elite list of top five highest partnership runs by a pair in ODIs.

Although Kohli had a quiet showing in the Sri Lanka ODIs last year, with only 58 runs across three innings, his overall record remains a testament to his skill and consistency. Both Rohit and Virat are determined to bounce back and find their rhythm in the upcoming ODI series against England, as they look to lead India to further success.

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were the top two run-getters of the 2023 World Cup with the latter scoring 765, and the skipper smashing 597.

India head coach Gautam Gambhir placed his faith on batting icons Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma to play "massive roles" in the Champions Trophy and said they add "so much value" to the team and the country`s cricketing landscape in general.

Former India captain Sourav Ganguly backed senior India batters Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to return to form during the ICC tournament. Ganguly also felt that India are not the outright favourites to lift the ICC title.
